Keto Fat Bombs: 7 Recipes To Help You Stay in Ketosis

June 25, 2019 by Sharon Leave a Comment

Keto fat bombs are one way to get those healthy fats into your diet if you’re having a hard time meeting the daily requirements for fat.

If you’re following the keto diet, you may be struggling to meet your required macros each day, especially fat. Fat intake is a key part of keto and really fuels the fat-burning process of ketosis. For more information about fat and the keto diet, read the Essential Guide to Healthy Fats.

What’s A Keto Fat Bomb?

A fat bomb is a small treat that contains mostly healthy fats and only a little protein and carbs. On the keto diet, you can eat fat bombs to make sure you’re hitting your macros every day and getting the necessary amount of fat for ketosis. It’s a bomb because it’s a big ole dose of fat in one serving.

The easiest way to make a fat bomb is to use some type of mold. Any silicone baking mold used for candy or treat making will work. If you really want to get creative, they sell them in a variety of shapes. Or you could just use a basic mold like this.

How Much Fat Are We Talking About Here?

Don’t let the name fool you. When I first heard about keto fat bombs I thought it sounded disgusting. As in, I need to eat a blob of fat?? Are you kidding me?

But nothing could be farther from the truth. They’re called fat bombs because they contain mostly healthy fats. The general rule of thumb is that keto fat bombs are at least 85% fat.

Most keto fat bomb recipes are a sweet treat. So if you’re missing that sweet but forbidden taste of candy or desserts loaded with sugar, a keto fat bomb is going to help you with those cravings.

Here are keto fat bomb recipes that you need to try right now.

7 Keto Fat Bomb Recipes

Peanut Butter Fat Bombs

The healthy fat in this fat bomb comes from coconut oil and natural peanut butter (no sugar added, just peanuts). I love peanut butter so this one is right up my alley. These little peanut butter miracles are going to make your day.

Oh, my goodness. How amazing is this? Who hasn’t eaten so much chocolate chip cookie dough that there’s not enough left to make cookies? No? Just me? Okay then…

This keto fat bomb uses cream cheese and natural peanut or almond butter, along with erythritol for sweetness and stevia-sweetened chocolate chips. Yummy!

Easy Lemon Fat Bombs

I’ll eat just about anything that’s lemon. It’s a satisfying but light and citrusy flavor that works well in so many things. Like these cute little lemon fat bombs!

You can whip these up in a snap. It’s just coconut butter, coconut oil, erythritol, and lemon flavoring (extract or lemon zest). Pour into mini-muffin cups, refrigerate, and enjoy the lemon!

Chocolate Cherry Fat Bombs

Here’s another one of my favorite goodies! Chocolate covered cherries! Regular chocolate covered cherries are loaded with sugar – in the syrup, in the chocolate, and the cherries. Bummer.

But these use dark sweet cherries which are sweet without all of the added sugar. Coconut butter, coconut oil, cacao powder, liquid stevia, and vanilla and almond extract are combined with chopped cherries. Spoon them into mini-muffin cups and freeze. So good!

Cheesecake is yet another dessert that you might miss while you’re on the keto diet. But like so many other things, there’s a keto-friendly, low-carb version of it. These cheesecake fat bombs get their fat from cream cheese and butter. Fresh strawberries, erythritol or stevia to sweeten a little, vanilla for taste and BAM! You’ve got a mini-cheesecake delight.

Pumpkin Pie Bites Fat Bomb

This is an awesome recipe from Tasteaholics for pumpkin pie fat bombs! We can’t get enough of pumpkin in this house. We could eat it all year long. These delicious fat bombs give you all the flavor of pumpkin pie without all the sugar and carbs. Mix pumpkin puree (watch the sugar content if you’re buying in the store), coconut butter, coconut oil, pumpkin pie spice, and erythritol. Top with pecans and pretend it’s fall even if it’s 100 degrees out.
